God is with us has 3 angles we should recognize
1) God willing became the dust of the earth that He created so that He could be with us.
a. Sturgeon “I am persuaded that no man has any idea how wonderful a stoop it was for God thus to dwell in human flesh and be “God with us.”
2) The body of Christ was like a frail boat carrying the most powerful cargo in the universe
a. Psalms 104:32 The earth trembles and smokes at His touch
b. Isaiah 8:8 God is with us across the entire land
3) Being with us is a relationship
a. First it implies there is a time when God is not with us
b. Next it means more than just in the company with or sharing with
c. Christ can relate to us because He is with us
i. Poor – Matt 8:20 He had no place to lay His head
ii. Bereaved – John 11:35 Jesus wept
iii. Slandered – Psalm 69:20 Scorn has broken my heart
iv. Betrayed – Sold by His friend for the price of a slave
v. Alone – Tempted in the garden and forsaken on the Cross
vi. Death – He conquered death before us and guides us through it
vii. Eternity – Matt 28:18-20 He is with us till the end of age
