1 John 2:3-11 Test of knowing Him
1 John 2:12-14 John describes 3 states of Christian spiritual understanding.
Little children are new Christians that have a basic awareness of God
Young men are those that have His Word in them but don’t know God in Word through life yet
Fathers are those that have experienced God’s Word through life
1 John 2:12 Little children are reminded of the fundamental principle of forgiveness for our sins
1 Cor 6:9-11 Only through Christ are we washed, sanctified, and justified
Titus 3:3-7 We are washed of our sins according to His mercy
John 17:17-19 We are sanctified by His truth
Rom 3:21-26 We are justified by His grace
1 John 2:13-14 Young men are identified as the Word abiding in them so they can overcome
Eph 4:11-16 We are to grow in knowledge of Him so that we are no longer tossed to and fro
1 John 2:13 Fathers are identified by they know Him in their lives
Phil 3:8-11 To know Christ is not a book knowledge but a personal, shared death and life with Him
Gal 2:18-21 We know Christ when we share in His crucifixion and have died to ourselves
